Getting to know "Ro"

She’s French—-isn’t that enough for you?

Ah, the wonders my fair lass has seen. Once tan fur with a brown stripe and salmon-colored hair, she turned silver and dusty pink-haired for her 2004 makeover, and has recently shuffled the cards even further with a new splash of blue-black hair for 2009. But rest assured, no matter what I do to her, she will always be SilverStripes.

Her primary job was to be an assassin, but she has to be the most non-working assassin I know! Personality wise, Reaux is somewhat cold and direct. She’s not one to beat around the bush when she can just knife you in the stomach. She has few friends due to the hazards of her occupation, but Bela DelTorre was determined to latch onto her, and they’ve been friends—though more reluctantly on Reaux’s end—ever since. In terms of relationships, Azarel is the favorite of her lovers and is a skilled swordsman, but she adores Gwidion for his poetic genius and gentle nature. Both men know of each other and speak often.


I have been asked these next few questions frequently, and so, here they are for all to see!

1. Why did you choose a skunk as your fursona?
- Because skunks were, and still are, less popular than the common canids, felines, equines, and floppy-eared rabbits that seem to litter the fandom. Not to mention Pépe was my favorite American cartoon character. I even have a skunky-bank, with Pépe cuddling on Penelope ^o^v. …Did I mention I’m a geek, or did you figure that out already?

2. Why silver fur, pink hair, and mismatched eyes?
- As she represents me in the anthro community, Reaux became silver to better reflect my outward appearance. Sure, I could have done black and white, but there are plenty of black and white skunks out there—silver just seemed more unique. Her hair is pink because I like the color, and her eyes are mismatched because I love animals and people with mismatched eyes =D.
* Then why did you change her hair now?
- Because all things change with time, and when I first created her, that was the extent of my creativity and imagination. I’ll probably do some more tweaks as time goes on.

3. Why doesn’t she smile more often?
- Her life wasn’t written as an easy one. With all of her family deceased and having been raised by a demon clan since she could remember, it made little sense to have her happy and joyful everyday when she was constantly learning new ways to kill people, rather than learning new stitch designs to make a quilt. Aside from that, to be a good assassin, you have to be a little more detached than normal, which also means the indefinite abandonment of many, many levels of emotion.

4. Why are her ears always angled back?
- Her logic is simple; since she wasn’t born with eyes in the back of her head, it only made sense to always keep her ears aimed in the directions her eyes were least likely to see. That way, she is as safe as she can possibly be.

5. The tattoo on her shoulder?
- Same as mine ^-^

6. Is Reaux always going to be a skunk, or have you thought about changing her species altogether?
- Her species will stay the same, but her overall appearances are bound to change a little each time I draw her. The changes aren’t usually too dramatic when I make them, but they are there.

7. Why does Reaux have two boyfriends?
- Why not?
* Then why doesn’t she have more than two?
- Because she’s picky, and hasn’t found a third she wants to keep.
