Creative Complexities
What is this crazy style I do? Let’s start by answering the question of what an anthromorph actually is.
Anthromorphs (aka: anthropomorphs, furries), herein referred to as anthros, are by definition, animals with human characteristics. In other words, it’s the same thing as Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse. No matter which rodent you prefer, if you see one that walks on two legs, talks, wears clothes, etc., it’s an anthro. Not everyone draws in my particular style, but this little blurb isn’t about them, now is it? =)
Though I’m also influenced by comics and manga, I love anime, and most of my style and ideas pull their influence from there. Overall, I like my characters to be cool, but not too realistic. That in mind, I failed to see a need to make them look anymore than cute, attractive, and colorful. There are those that practice the real-life styling, and it looks fine for what it is (and really, kudos to them for spending all that time on it), but a real-life looking Pokémon would be kiiiind of eerie ;.;. Not to mention it doesn’t impress me all that much. Distorting reality into a fantasy impresses me. Distorting a fantasy into reality? Not so much. So don’t expect me to do it for you.
Many of my anthro characters you may not see very often. I admit, I don’t draw my boys anywhere near as much as I should, but trust me, if they have a pic or a placeholder in the bio section, they’re most likely safe. I just haven’t felt much like drawing them XD.
As for my other love, I greatly enjoy fantasy art, and will be drawing more of it this starting year. I won’t be abandoning my anthros—they’ll still have my attention—but expect to see more of just about everything else. 2009 is the year of change for FLIG, and I hope you’re look forward to it as much as I am.
